NF is 'the largest small disease'. 1 in 3000 children is born with this hereditary neurological disorder.
Characteristic is the uninhibited growth of tumors on nerve endings,
which are located on the skin and deeper in the body.
NF is very unpredictable and also means: a lifetime of uncertainty.

NF (Neurofibromatosis) is still a relatively unknown disease.
This means that few people donate. While a lot of money is needed for research to find a cure.
Our job was to think about a concept to make this disease known.
Raise awareness and money.

Insight:  Kids with NF are often very insecure.  A 'Dit-ben-ik’ drawing gives insight into a kids’  feelings, thoughts and needs at that moment. For example: The head represents thinking, the torso for processing or just holding emotions. The arms and legs stand for being able to express feelings and thoughts. If, for example, the torso is drawn largest in proportion, the emphasis is on the emotional life etc.

Idea: For this digital and print campaign we ask kids that are dealing with visible NF, to draw themselves. So instead of using striking images of the kids or people with NF, we will show the world the way to see themselves.

The drawings will be shown in a print campaign but also will we  make a short case video in which the process is filmed and where a professional will analyze their drawings based on the above. There will be a QR-code added to every print that will lead to the special page on the NF website. On the website every kids’ story based on their portraits is highlighted and will of course include the case video.

This way we show the world that the disease not only affects them physically but also mentally and that donations are urgently needed.
